50 Cent: Domestic Violence Charge Dropped in Exchange for Vandalism Plea

Though he faced some serious charges, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson got out of the courtroom today with just misdemeanor vandalism on his record (October 28).

Charged with domestic violence against ex-girlfriend Daphne Narvaez in June, the "Candy Shop" rapper will still be under the scrutiny of the court for awhile.

According to his attorney Scott Leemon, "The agreement called for Mr. Jackson to plead no contest to a single count of misdemeanor vandalism, which deals with the door of the apartment that was damaged and owned by the landlord. All remaining counts, including, the domestic violence charge will be dismissed. He has agreed to perform community service, attend counseling sessions and will be on unsupervised probation for a period of three years."

This is far from his first brush with Johnny law, nor is it his first time on probation. Back in 2005, 50 was placed on two years' probation from an incident where he jumped into the audience after being hit with a water bottle.

Adele posed for an elegantly put together Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott shot spread while talking about everything from ridding of the booze to her highly publicized vocal cord surgery.

Highlights from Adele’s interview are as follows.

On her ‘loud’ personality:
“I am quite loud and bolshie,” she says (British slang for unruly and clamorous). “I’m a big personality. I walk into a room, big and tall and loud.” Indeed. There is no doubt when Adele is in the building. The rule of thumb for protecting one’s vocal cords, she tells me, is: If people are more than an arm’s length away, you shouldn’t talk to them. “But I am like, Wah! Wah! Wah!,” she says, laughing. “It’s really bad.”

On giving up drinking last May:
“Don’t like drinking anymore. I think I got it out of my system. D’yaknowhaImean?”

On her vocal troubles:
“I’ve been singing properly every day since I was about fifteen or sixteen and I have never had any problems with my voice, ever. I’ve had a sore throat here and there, had a cold and sung through it, but that day it just went while I was onstage in Paris during a radio show. It was literally like someone had pulled a curtain over it.” She flew to London the next morning to see her doctor and was diagnosed with acute laryngitis. After a couple weeks’ rest, she continued her European tour, came to America, and then her voice went again in May. “That was a hemorrhage… a burst blood vessel on my vocal cord. That healed, I did a tour, and then it happened again at my best friend’s wedding on October 1.”

On getting support through her surgery from other artists:
“John Mayer had it done at the same time as I did and he really helped me be chilled out about it. Roger Daltrey’s had loads of stuff done; Steven Tyler reached out; Elton John. Lots of artists have had problems with their voices, but you don’t know about it. And they are still singing incredibly well in their 50s and 60s.”

On her six Grammy nominations:
“I burst into tears when I found out. And I would love, absolutely love, to win. This record is coming to an end, and that would be the final brick on it.”

Justin Bieber Debuts ‘Recovery,’ His New Song, as “One of the Most Important’

Justin Bieber has released a new song, ‘Recovery,’ as part of his “Music Mondays” series. The R&B slow jam was trending on Twitter and topped iTune charts around the world upon its midnight release. Hear the song and its emotionally raw lyrics, which are sparking much discussion.

This latest “journal entry” as the teen music superstar calls these songs explores the aftermath of the dissolution of a relationship. The 19-year-old Justin Bieber Tweeted “It’s here. One of the most important songs to me I’ve ever written. #Recovery . Hope it helps you!”

The song samples the hit single, ‘Fill Me In,’ by Grammy-nominated British singer-songwriter Craig David, who Tweeted his solid endorsement, “So many great memories flood back when hearing this guitar riff. Well done @justinbieber sounding great.”

The single cover art for ‘Recovery’ which was previously released on Twitter is stark, unadorned; a white background with a purple cross, stylized like the Red Cross logo, which gives it a clinical look. The lyrics themselves are less poetic and more to the point, a sort of blank-verse confessional from an unnamed “I” to an unnamed “you,” giving the listeners the chance to eavesdrop.

As Justin Bieber himself has invited us to make autobiographical assumptions, we could speculate that he is singing about his former girlfriend and fellow music star, Selena Gomez. With such lines as “….First, I’ll acknowledge / All trust has been broken / A successful recovery / I pray for us at night…” he admits culpability, and later even more explicitly, “…I know that I caused a problem / Know that I left you / Pushed you far away…” even as he asks for a second chance.

His manager, Scooter Braun Tweeted “One of my favorites & from an honest place. Very Craig David too. @justinbieber #Recovery .”

Previous releases in the Music Mondays series have been “Heartbreaker,” “All That Matters” and “Hold Tight.” The weekly serialization — slated to last 10 weeks in total — culminates with the Christmas Day release of the 3D concert movie, ‘Believe,’ which takes its title from both the album and the world tour.

Orlando Bloom Strolls By Miranda Kerr's Place in NYC

Paying a quick visit to his former Angel's apartment in the Big Apple, Orlando Bloom was all smiles on the way to his performance at the theater.

The "Romeo and Juliet" actor was looking good in a black leather jacket as he strode along looking energetic, knocking on Miranda Kerr's door, and waiting to be let in.

Orlando and Miranda made their separation official earlier this week, however, the iconic couple has been seen in New York walking arm-in-arm and spending time with their son Flynn, looking like a true family.

Meanwhile, a snippet from the New York Times Theater Review describes Orlando's production, reading,"The chemistry [between Romeo and Juliet] is less erotic than aesthetic. This doesn’t mean that the connection isn’t real, and it’s hard not to feel protective of porcelain figurines that are destined to fall and shatter. That one of them is white and the other black may underscore the division between their families, yet it registers as irrelevant when they’re together."

Alec Baldwin and Miley Cyrus Interrupt Edward Norton’s SNL Monologue! (Video)

Poor Edward Norton could not get through his Saturday Night monologue without interruption by Miley Cyrus, her tongue and her tour announcement! Alec Baldwin showed up to give him hosting advice! It was a crowded stage!

What’s a SNL host to do? In this case share the stage! The 44-year-old Edward Norton explained that it was his first time hosting the show, and that executive producer Loren Michaels had first asked him to host in 2000. He said he told Michaels he was a Method actor and he needed time to prepare. How much time? He said he needed 13 years!

Veteran host Alec Baldwin wanders in to offer some advice. He gave him the Alec Baldwin SNL Warmup for Dramatic Actors. After spoofing dramatic turns, and facial cues The actor, whose Oscar-nominated role as a reformed skinhead ‘American History X’ solidified his fame, then revealed himself to be capable of the comedic impressions Baldwin asked him to do, including Woody — he did both Woody Allen and Woody Harrelson.

Miley Cyrus just happened to wander in wearing a midriff-length white T-shirt and dark skirt. One might be forgiven for saying she “came in like a wrecking ball,” as that is pretty much what she did! She said, “Real quick I’d just like to announce that I’m about to go on tour.” After the applause died down, she then offered “Miley’s three rules.” Have fun, keep your energy up and stick your tongue out. Oh, yes, she demonstrated that last tip.

But mainly she announced her tour, just three weeks after her dual hosting and musical guest gig on the show. Alec Baldwin, not to be outdone in shameless self-promotion, plugged his new talk show on MSBC, not once but twice.

Later, Miley Cyrus Tweeted to her 14+ million followers about her tour: “I’m gooooing on tooooooour!! #Bangerz2014Tour”

Thus went Edward Norton’s debut hosting of ‘Saturday Night Live,’ after his 13 years of prep! See the replay below!

You wouldn't peg Mary J Blige as the black-light-and-tapestry sort, but, as has become readily apparent in recent weeks, she absolutely loves Led Zeppelin. In early February, reports began circulating that <a href="/news/articles/1631297/mary-j-blige-records-led-zeppelins-stairway-to-heaven.jhtml">Blige had re-recorded Zeppelin's classic "Stairway to Heaven,"</a> working with Travis Barker, "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson and guitarist Steve Vai on the track, which is slated to appear on the international reissue of her Stronger With Each Tear album, due Monday. <div style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; float:left;"><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:491065" width="256" height="223" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashVars="configParams=instance%3Dnews%26vid%3D491065" allowFullScreen="true" wmode="transparent" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></div> But after she had recorded "Stairway," Blige continued to get the Led out, covering another Zeppelin classic — the thunderous "Whole Lotta Love" — for the album too. And when MTV News caught up with her on the Essence Black Women in Hollywood red carpet, she told us all about channeling her inner Robert Plant for the tracks, a process that came much easier than you'd probably imagine. "I did Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love' — it's crazy," she said. "I am a Led Zeppelin fan. I'm not going to say I've been to their concerts, but I've listened to their music since I was a child, and it's always moved me, especially 'Stairway to Heaven,' and 'Whole Lotta Love' is just fun." Blige also said she recorded another new song — a "club record" called "I Can't Wait" — for the re-release. And while it's only slated to hit shelves outside the U.S., she hopes her fans will get a chance to hear all the new songs pretty soon. "I want y'all to hear it," she laughed.

In a sea of A-list contributions for will.i.am's forthcoming solo album, the Black Eyed Peas mastermind recently dropped one name that will really get pop fans excited. Speaking with <a href="http://www.capitalfm.com/artists/william/news/britney-spears-alicia-keys-new-album/" target="_blank">Capital FM</a>, will teased that his Femme Fatale collaborator Britney Spears will make an appearance on the album, dubbed #willpower. <div class="player-placeholder right" title="Britney Hits The Studio With will.i.am" id="vid:638813" width="240" height="211"></div> "I have a song with Alicia Keys — me, Alicia and Swedish House Mafia. I have a song with the Beats, which is pretty grand. Me and Shakira have been trying to finish the stuff we started, and me and Britney is really crazy," he said. "So we got a song with me, LMFAO and Eva Simons, a song with me and Busta Rhymes and Swizz Beatz — I got a whole other bunch of collaborations." Spears and will.i.am last worked together on "Big Fat Bass," a spacey, grinding party tune complete with clapping noises and some rapping from will himself. Their recording session was featured on the MTV special <a href="/news/articles/1660830/britney-spears-femme-fatale-previews.jhtml">"I Am the Femme Fatale."</a> There's been no word yet from will's camp about the song and whether this is a new track or if he will be including "Big Fat Bass" on the album. The rapper/producer's love for Brit is hardly anything new: He <a href="/news/articles/1662289/britney-spears-will-i-am-big-fat-bass.jhtml">gushed to MTV News about the pop princess</a> months after they recorded together. "[I discovered] her love for music. I never seen anyone, like, come alive, full of excitement and giggling and laughing behind the mic," will recalled to MTV News. "She was like a little kid when she was recording the song, and it just brought the whole atmosphere, it changed the whole atmosphere when someone really loves music. So it was great working with her." His latest single, "T.H.E (The Hardest Ever)," featuring Jennifer Lopez and Mick Jagger, dropped late last year. #willpower, which also features "X Factor" judge Nicole Scherzinger, will be released later this year.
