I went to the premiere on Tuesday and it was the coolest thing ever. First, the movie is AMAZING and Chris Evans is a superstar. Second, there were so many damn people there it was insane. I have been to movie premieres in New York before and they were nothing like this. I mean, they closed down Hollywood Boulevard. I would've taken photos to show you, but the invite said to leave phones in the car. But here's a photo of me in my cool Captain America 3D glasses:

Dimmu Borgir Release Live DVD; Plus Led Zeppelin, Brujeria, & More News That Rules, In Metal File

'It shows the intense live side of the band, as opposed to the perfection and the cleanness of how we sound on our albums,' guitarist says.

On October 14, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/borgir_dimmu/artist.jhtml">Dimmu Borgir</a>Dimmu Borgir — who just happen to be <a href="/news/articles/1593780/demi-lovato-metalhead-metal-file.jhtml">Demi Lovato's favorite black-metal band</a> — will release a a three-disc DVD/CD set called "The Invaluable Darkness," the band's first visual offering since 2002's "World Misanthropy." Boasting live footage shot last year, during gigs in Norway, Germany and England, "The Invaluable Darkness" demonstrates the unbridled furor of seeing Dimmu live, guitarist Silenoz said. "It shows the honest rawness and atmospheric darkness of our concerts," the Norwegian told Metal File last week, after <a href="/news/articles/1596201/in-this-moment-make-the-dream-a-reality-metal-file.jhtml">dismissing recent online rumors that his band's next LP would be coming out through Roadrunner Records</a>. "Basically, it shows the intense live side of the band, as opposed to the perfection and the cleanness of how we sound on our albums. It's just a different side to the band, basically." Dimmu Borgir began thinking about "The Invaluable Darkness" two years ago, but didn't start capturing footage until last summer, Silenoz explained, adding that the band will use its current stint on the Blackest of the Black Tour — which got underway Thursday night in Miami Beach, Florida, and also features the tour's founder, Danzig, along with <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/moonspell/artist.jhtml">Moonspell</a>Moonspell, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/winds_of_plague/artist.jhtml">Winds of Plague</a>Winds of Plague and Skeletonwitch — to promote the DVD. Dimmu Borgir will not, however, use the tour to write material for their next LP. "It's our first time on Blackest, but Glenn [Danzig] had wanted to bring us out before [on the tour], but we weren't available until now," Silenoz said. "We've done Ozzfest before, but we're looking forward to this tour more. We did the main stage on Ozzfest, playing in f--_ing broad daylight. This tour will let us play in bigger places, but at the same time showcase more of what the band's about, visually. We are going to concentrate on the tour for now. Some years ago, we tried putting [material] together on the road, but once we got home, we listened back to it, and were like, 'What the f--- is this?' So, we just scrapped it all. We find it's so much better to totally focus on one thing at a time, and then, when that's over, you move on to the next [thing]. We don't really feel like we need to rush things, anyway, so we'll just take our time, and it's going to be what it's going to be." Dimmu Borgir hope to reconvene in late December to begin writing the follow-up to 2007's diabolically titled In Sorte Diaboli. "We have some ideas floating around already, but we haven't arranged any material yet," he said. "We'll start doing that once the touring for this DVD is over." The band's frontman, Shagrath, is also due to marry soon — he's engaged to actor Nicolas Cage's ex-girlfriend, Christina Fulton, so that may have an effect on when Dimmu finish their next album, which Silenoz said could be out this coming spring. "I'm sure [Shagrath] won't let anything get in the way [of] the band — I think, I hope," the guitarist said. "We don't need a Yoko [Ono] situation." While Dimmu have been at it going on 15 years now, Silenoz said he doesn't think their forthcoming material will be much of a departure from their previous black-metal offerings. "And we have always been about more than just that term, 'black metal,' " he said. "Luckily for us, the older you get, the less concerned you get with the categorization and putting labels on your music. Things start getting more and more limitless with us, and we know that we operate within certain frames. But we try not to analyze things too much, because it's just going to be working against you in the end. When we write new stuff, we don't think about what we should write — we just get together, and put material together, and if we like it, we keep it. That's the formula, if we even have a formula." Dimmu Borgir are definitely getting older — guitarist Galder will be missing Blackest because of a recent addition to his family, and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/susperia/artist.jhtml">Susperia's</a>Susperia's Cyrus will be filling in for him; while former <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/vader/artist.jhtml">Vader</a>Vader drummer Dariusz Brzozowski takes over for Hellhammer, who had to leave the band in 2007 after sustaining a neck injury that's now limited the use of his right arm. As Dimmu has gotten on in years, Silenoz admits they have failed to keep pace with some of the more extreme black-metal acts that have followed in their wake. "We helped open doors for the more extreme bands out there," Silenoz said. "I'm sure we helped open doors for bands like Watain, [insomuch as] people that had maybe started listening to us first then went on to the more extreme stuff. Let's face it — we're not as extreme as Watain and other bands like that, but we're fine with that." The Blackest of the Black Tour continues through November 10 in San Francisco. The rest of the week's metal news: Dimmu's tourmates on Blackest, Winds of Plague, have announced ex-Azusa drummer Art Cruz has joined their ranks — he replaced Jeff Tenney. According to the band's blog, "Art has already added a new spark to the band and has provided us with a solid backbone that will allow us to continue our rampage stronger than ever." ... What the world really needs is another <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/led_zeppelin/artist.jhtml">Led Zeppelin</a>Led Zeppelin box set, so, on November 4, Rhino Records will issue the Led Zeppelin Definitive Collection Mini LP Replica CD box set. Former <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/killswitch_engage/artist.jhtml">Killswitch Engage</a>Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach and current Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz have teamed up for a new project they're calling Times of Grace, and they've already started working on material for their debut album. According to Leach, "We have two songs to go and we will be finished with all of the vocals. Adam has taken lead vocals in three songs as of yet and he is doing a great job. We also worked on a track yesterday that is so epic — we trade vocals and do two different melodies at the same time. This album went from a melodic metal album to an epic mix of metal/rock/pop/shoegaze and punk. So all of your metal expectations will be incorrect — we are pushing genre boundaries." To quote "Meet the Parents," we'll look forward to that, Greg. ... The Funeral Pyre and Early Graves will be hitting the road together next month, starting November 7 in South Lake Tahoe, California. The latest incarnation of Brujeria, which features <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/carcass/artist.jhtml">Carcass</a>Carcass frontman Jeff Walker and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/napalm_death/artist.jhtml">Napalm Death's</a>Napalm Carcass's Shane Embury, have lined up several U.S. dates for this winter. The band will begin its brief trek November 28 in Denver, and wrap things up in Dallas on December 7. ... <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/demiricous/artist.jhtml">Demiricous</a>Demiricous will be touring with the Gates of Slumber starting November 9 in Denver, for a jaunt that's scheduled to run through December 6 in Indianapolis. ... 'Fresh Prince' Dad James Avery Dead at 68

James Avery, who played Uncle Phil on the hit '90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, passed away on Tuesday. The actor died of complications from open-heart surgery, his manager confirmed. He was 68.

"Kaia is a diva, honey! She loves to be snuggled all the time. And Kane is the easiest baby ever. Just feed him and change him and he's happy. It's an absolute trip having one baby in your arm — if not two — while Brielle wants food, Kash wants to be held, and KJ's peeing all over the toilet. It's just hectic, but I wouldn't change it for anything. It's a trip!"

As for the possibility of more children in the future, Zolciak declared, "This is it — no more kids! I finally feel like my family is 100 percent complete."

Bruce Springsteen ‘High Hopes’ Album Review Roundup

Bruce Springsteen’s latest album is ‘High Hopes.’ It is the rock legend’s eighteenth album, and some of the songs will have their broadcast premiere on the CBS drama series ‘The Good Wife.’ Meanwhile, music critics are weighing in. Find out what they have to say.

The title track of Bruce Springsteen’s new album, ‘High Hopes’ — a cover of a Tim Scott McConnell song from the 1980s — has already been released as the lead single, followed by an official music video. But from there, the album takes a novel promotional turn. It’s not a surprise release, as the album has been forthcoming for weeks and the word is out. But it’s not every day that songs are debuted on a popular television show. But such is the case for the Boss, on the January 12th episode of ‘The Good Wife.’

The new songs that viewers will hear snippets of include ‘Hunter of Invisible Game’ and ‘The Ghost of Tom Joade’ as well as the title track, ‘High Hopes.’ Will the lure of these previously unheard songs by the Boss bring new viewers to the show? Or will those who are already loyal viewers and fans of the show number among the buyers of the album? The more pressing question for Bruce Springsteen is, obviously the latter. Either way, CBS benefits, as its owns the album’s record label, Columbia. Additionally, as part of the deal, the full album will stream at CBS’ Web site starting on January 5th.

As is, Bruce Springsteen’s new album has generated a buzz as it is a collection of previously unreleased music from the past several years which has been rerecorded. It’s also notable as it does preserve some of the instrumentals from two members of the E Street band who have died; the saxophonist Clarence Clemons and the multi-instrumentalist Danny Federici. It will offer listeners a chance to hear once again the unique sounds of these celebrated musicians whose presence is missed to this day.

Unfortunately, the smooth roll-out of this uncharacteristic album was disrupted. For a few short hours on December 28th, the mp3 album was on sale at the Amazon.com mobile. Yes, the mistake was caught, but the album was out long enough to hit the file-sharing Web sites and thus leak to the Internet.

But for the rest of the world, the album is for sale officially on January 14th. Music critics are beginning to have their say about ‘High Hopes.’ The reviews have been mixed. Here’s a roundup.

“…Perhaps the real story of High Hopes is that Springsteen is only trying to keep busy. There’s a lot of great stuff on here, but it doesn’t hold together and doesn’t come close to being one of Springsteen’s great albums….” — The Telegraph

“…. It is essentially what it seems — a collection of covers, live favorites and lost songs, all given a revamp. There are some pieces of gold and silver to be found, but the chunks of junk thrown into the mix turn the album’s high hopes into a frustratingly inconsistent reality….” — New York Post

Meant to honor "the most potent graphic images of modern times, many of which have provided a visual soundtrack to people's lives," the series is the end result of a lengthy research process by the Royal Mail, who looked through thousands of album covers by British artists before deciding on the final list. And, during a Wednesday night BBC Radio broadcast, it was revealed that the queen herself actually approved each design. Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page — who helped design the cover for IV — was on hand to celebrate the release of the stamps and recalled the mysterious nature of the album's iconic imagery. "Almost 40 years after the album came out, nobody knows the old man who featured on the cover, nor the artist who painted him," he said. "That sort of sums up what we wanted to achieve with the album cover, which has remained both anonymous and enigmatic at the same time." Of course, any great honor is befitting of an equally great contest, so, on the same day the stamps were made available to the general public, Coldplay decided to give one of their Rush of Blood stamps away. In a message on their official site, the band held a contest to send one lucky fan "a letter using a Coldplay stamp, postmarked with today's issue date." "We visited our local post office earlier today and bought some of the Coldplay stamps," the message read. "Very nice they are too."

Whitney Houston dies at 48

It’s no secret she’s had a rough go of it in recent years, and Whitney Houston has died of undisclosed causes, says her publicist Kristen Foster.

With her fans and friends understandably devastated by the news, details available thus far tell that the “I Will Always Love You” singer was found unresponsive in her room at the Beverly Hilton hotel on Saturday (February 11).

With paramedica arriving within minutes, Houston was pronounced dead at 3:55PM with a full investigation already underway - though there are said to be no signs of foul play.

According to TMZ, a search of the Beverly Hilton Hotel room in which the 48-year-old was staying found no illegal drugs, though prescription medications were located.

TMZ adds that there’s a chance Miss Houston died from drowning in the bathtub, but since her body was removed from the water before EMTs arrived the conclusive determination must await an autopsy.

Carly Rae Jepsen to Make Broadway Debut as ‘Cinderella’ in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Musical

Carly Rae Jepsen is set to make her Broadway debut in the title role of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s musical ‘Cinderella.” The Canadian pop star rose to international fame with her viral video turned smash hit ‘Call Me Maybe.’

The 28-year-old Grammy-nominated Canadian singer-songwriter who got her start as a finalist on Canadian Idol, has sustained a middling music career until Justin Bieber discovered and Tweeted her song ‘Call Me Maybe’ causing it to go viral, and soon thereafter she signed a record deal with his manager, Scooter Braun’s label. The song went on to become ubiquitous and much parodied as it topped charts in numerous countries and become the bestselling single in the world in 2012.

Now Carly Rae Jepsen’s ascending career makes another huge leap when she takes over the role of Cinderella from the Tony-nominated actress Laura Osnes on February 4, 2014 for a 12-week run of performances. ‘Happily Divorced’ star Fran Drescher will portray the stepmother, also marking her Broadway debut.

She told the New York Times about her longtime aspiration to star on Broadway — she had had starring roles in musicals in high school — including ‘Annie,’ ‘Grease’ and ‘The Wiz’ — as well as her training at the Canadian College of Performing Arts, saying, in a statement, “It was essentially musical theater training with studies in singing, dancing and acting…My favorite part of the school year was our trip to New York, where we met Broadway performers and toured the theaters.”

Of the iconic fairytale Cinderella, she said, “It’s so hopeful and inspiring. I’ve always been one to believe in the impossible, so I relate to her character completely.”

Leonardo DiCaprio on ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ Controversy

Leonardo DiCaprio, the star of Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Wolf of Wall Street,’ is defending the movie which has proven controversial as some feel that it glorifies and glamorizes the real-life story of ex-stockbroker Jordan Belfort, who served prison time for securities fraud.

Leonardo DiCaprio portrays Jordan Belfort in the movie which is based on his memoir of the same title. The three-hour long movie is filled with scene after scene of the lavish and depraved lifestyle — excessive illicit drug use, sex orgies on private planes, etc. — depicted in the book. While some critics herald the movie as a masterpiece others have denounced it for these very excesses.

Victims of Jordan Belfort’s penny stock swindles, some of whom lost hundreds of thousands of dollars, those same dollars that fueled his day-to-day decadence, have also spoken out in various media reports. Also Christina McDowell, daughter of Tom Prousalis who was among Belfort’s colleagues who were convicted of securities fraud crimes wrote a scathing denouncement, ‘An Open Letter to the Makers of The Wolf of Wall Street, and the Wolf Himself’ which was published in LA Weekly.

Martin Scorsese was infamously confronted by an Academy member at the official Academy screening of the movie, who reportedly said, “Shame on you!” And audience reaction thus far has not been overwhelmingly positive according to CinemaScore which reports it received a “C” rating on opening day, which was Christmas.

In light of the ever-growing controversy, Leonardo DiCaprio, in a new interview with Variety defends the movie and how the narrative unfolds. He said, “This film may be misunderstood by some; I hope people understand we’re not condoning this behavior, that we’re indicting it. The book was a cautionary tale and if you sit through the end of the film, you’ll realize what we’re saying about these people and this world, because it’s an intoxicating one.”

He went on to praise the film and the filmmaker, saying, “I think it’s amazing somebody like Martin Scorsese is still making films that are vital and talked about, and have an element of controversy about them and are appealing to people of my generation. We grew up watching his films and he’s still making stuff that’s punk rock. It’s an amazing achievement.”

While the movie may draw mixed reactions, critics overall have praised Leonardo DiCaprio’s performance. Which begs the question, how did he approach the role, and indeed the portrayal of the real-life character of Jordan Belfort who is so polarizing even to this day, as he is in the news now for shopping around a reality TV series.

Leonardo DiCaprio addressed this as well saying, “The severe honesty in which Jordan Belfort portrayed a hedonistic time in his life on Wall Street. It’s rare when someone is unafraid to divulge how dark they went. With all these people on Wall Street who’ve screwed over so many people since 2008, I became obsessed with playing a character who made me understand the mentality and nature of the seduction of Wall Street and greed. I appreciated his honesty.”

The debate will be ongoing, but the mere fact that the movie has sparked such a debate is encouraging. It’s a point not lost on DiCaprio who says, “People — no matter what their attitude is after seeing the film — should understand this is a film that’s outside the box and is very difficult to get done in this day and age; it almost never happens.”

‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ has received two Golden Globe nominations. It will interesting as well to see how many Oscar nominations it will receive or if, possibly it may be snubbed due to controversy. The trailer video is below.

Does Britney Spears Have 'The X Factor'?

MTV News takes a look at the pros and cons of bringing Spears onboard as a judge for the reality singing competition.

The news that <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> is reportedly in final negotiations to <a href="/news/articles/1680782/britney-spears-x-factor-judge-offer.jhtml">join "The X Factor"</a> has set the <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com">MTV Newsroom</a> on fire. Opinion on whether the pop star is a good fit for the reality singing competition has been sharply divided, so we decided to take on the topic the way we're sure Simon Cowell did before making Spears a reported $10 million offer: a good, old-fashioned pros and cons list. <embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:698603/cp~vid%3D698603%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A698603" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed> <big>Pro: She'll attract viewers</big> The <a href="/news/articles/1671220/x-factor-simon-cowell-ratings.jhtml">debut season of "The X Factor"</a> performed well below expectations. Its heavily hyped premiere pulled in 12.1 million total viewers and a meager 4.4/12 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18 to 49 demographic. That's about half of what the 2011 season of "American Idol" averaged ("Idol" is having its own ratings woes this season), and it didn't even win the night: Emmy-winning sitcom "Modern Family" drew 14.3 million viewers and a 6.0/15 for its season premiere. The poor ratings precipitated the overhaul that saw judges <a href="/news/articles/1678191/paula-abdul-exits-x-factor.jhtml">Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger</a> and host Steve Jones fired from the show. There's no question that Spears would bring viewers to "The X Factor." She enjoys a large and devout fanbase who will basically follow her just about anywhere. And beyond her own fans, Spears' celebrity would also likely draw attention from the general public, who will tune in simply to see how she does. <big> Con: She's become nervous on camera </big> Though she can still wow a crowd live in concert, as evidenced by last year's successful tour behind her hit album Femme Fatale, Spears has become increasingly tentative during interviews. She rarely grants on-camera sit-downs, and when she does, she seems nervous and uncomfortable. To be a strong judge or mentor on a reality show, you have to be very comfortable on camera. Part of what made Jennifer Lopez click last season on "Idol" was that she came across as confident, direct and often empathetic. She even broke down in tears after <a href="/news/articles/1658584/americaon-idol-top-24.jhtml">sending home contestant Chris Medina</a>, whose fiancée suffered a severe brain injury in a car accident. The key word here is after. It's hard to imagine Spears being able to keep it together and deliver such difficult news in similar circumstances. It's worth noting that a high-drama situation arose on the first season of "The X Factor" -- one that left <a href="/news/articles/1675936/x-factor-rachel-crow-elimination-reaction.jhtml">contestant Rachel Crow sobbing</a> onstage and Scherzinger a wreck ... a wreck who received <a href="http://www.thefablife.com/2011-12-05/paula-abdul-and-nicole-scherzinger-receive-death-threats-after-the-x-factor-elimination/" target="_blank">death threats</a>. Producers should also consider whether it's wise to send Spears, who has dealt with emotional issues in the past, into a genre that thrives when the emotional stakes are high. <big>Pro: she is a contemporary artist</big> One of the things we like most about <a href="/news/articles/1680496/the-voice-battle-rounds.jhtml">"The Voice"</a> is that its judges — Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton — are all active artists. They are all still hitting the studio to make hit records, and that lends a great deal of credibility to their opinions when they critique a contestant's performance. We don't mean to slight Abdul or Scherzinger, but you could argue that a legacy singer who hasn't released an album in over 17 years and a performer who has had a difficult time getting her own solo singing career off the ground aren't the best judges of who does and does not have "The X Factor." On the other hand, Spears may be. <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2011/03/29/britney-spears-femme-fatale-reviews/">Last year's Femme Fatale</a> gave Spears three top-10 singles — the most of any of her seven albums — and earned some of the best reviews of her career. While it's true that she did not write or produce much of the record, she was most certainly involved in picking her collaborators, which actually could speak well of her ability to know talent when she sees it. Spears also smartly chose red-hot rapper Nicki Minaj to open on the North American leg of her tour. When it comes to the contemporary pop music scene, Spears knows what works. <big>Con: She's not known for her singing</big> Unlike Aguilera, whose talent as a vocalist is indisputable, Spears is not known for her singing. By signing her to judge and mentor a singing competition, "X Factor" producers are setting themselves up for inevitable criticism. "Who is Britney Spears to judge a singing competition?" critics will scream (and they won't be wrong). When Aguilera critiques a performer's vocals, she speaks with authority — and her ear for singing proved to make her the most discerning judge on the "Voice" panel during the <a href="/news/articles/1679565/the-voice-christina-aguilera-jonathas-usher.jhtml">blind auditions</a>. Spears' judging style will likely be based on liking what's already there, but she's not going to have much insight on missed notes or pitch, which will cripple her ability to further mentor her team. 'Glee' Michael Jackson Episode: Rumored Set List Leaks

A rumored set list for the January 24 "Glee" Michael Jackson tribute episode has hit the Web, and it features some of the late singer's greatest hits. <a href="http://perezhilton.com/2011-12-27-glee-michael-jackson-tribute-episode-setlist#.TvoRm0rkk7A" target="_blank">Perez Hilton</a> reports that 14 tracks have made the final cut, although the list has yet to be confirmed by anyone connected with the show. <div class="player-placeholder right" title="'Glee' Cast Members Talk Michael Jackson Episode" id="vid:549513.id:1645343" width="240" height="211"></div> The set list (along with who will perform the track) reportedly includes "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' " (Blaine), "Bad" (the New Directions and the Warblers), "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" (Finn and Rachel), "Smooth Criminal" (Santana and Sebastian), "Never Can Say Goodbye" (Quinn), "In the Closet" (Brittany and Santana), "We Are the World" (the New Directions and the Warblers), "Black and White" (Puck), "Ghost"/"Monster" (New Directions), "Beat It"/"Billie Jean" (Warblers), "The Way You Make Me Feel" (Kurt) and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" (Artie). This is hardly the first time the show has paid homage to Jackson. Back in 2010, the <a href="/news/articles/1657395/glee-thriller.jhtml">New Directions performed his track "Thriller,"</a> complete with zombie garb, during an episode that aired after the Super Bowl. The show has also previously covered "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)" and "Man in the Mirror." Back in 2010, the cast of the hit Fox show had only imagined what it would be like to have an entire <a href="http://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2010/08/09/glee-michael-jackson/">episode dedicated to Jackson</a>. "I would love to do a Michael Jackson episode," Amber Riley told MTV News at the time. "You know, it's so many [songs that I love], but my favorite song by him is 'Human Nature.' I love that song." While Riley seemed psyched about the opportunity, castmate Jenna Ushkowitz found the possibility a little more daunting. "That's a scary, scary episode to do," she said.
