Lea Michele ‘You’re Mine’ Cory Monteith Tribute Song (Audio)

Lea Michele’s tribute song for the late Cory Monteith, ‘You’re Mine’ has had its premiere. The much anticipated song is from the ‘Glee’ star’s debut album ‘Louder.’

The 27-year-old actress and singer has released the song fans were most hopeful of hearing. She first spoke of ‘You’re Mine’ in an interview months ago, saying that the song was the one which made her think of her late boyfriend and fellow ‘Glee’ star Cory Monteith who died last July at age 31, tragically, of a heroin and alcohol toxicity.

Like her debut single, ‘Cannonball,’ this song is also written by Australian hitmaker songwriter Sia Fuller. The song, a mid-tempo piano ballad, is beautiful, as is her soaring voice but the circumstances are quite sad which makes the lyrics — which have the makings for the perfect wedding day song — nothing less than heartbreaking, with such lines as “You’re mine, for life / And I’ll be by your side / We are entwined…”

For those who known the back story — and don’t we all by now? — it is as it must be all the more so for Lea Michele, a tribute to what was.

As her album is released, she will not have Cory Monteith at her side to share what is sure to be rousing success as she may indeed be the next television actress-singer whose debut album debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Most recently, it was Ariana Grande of Nickelodeon’s ‘Sam & Cat.’ So why not the ‘Rachel Berry’ of ‘Glee’ reinventing herself as a pop music superstar? Lea Michele has been admirably resilient, stating in more than one interview her desire to move forward with her life and, as she told Ellen DeGeneres, to find the “empowerment” in grief. On that level, with that reading, the song succeeds, and it is uplifting.

‘You’re Mine’ is available for download on iTunes, and you can stream it below. The ‘Louder’ album is due out on March 4th.
