The Jonas Brothers, who recently announced they have split, have released five final songs, previously unheard. The new songs were to have been included on the band’s now scrapped fifth studio album, ‘V.’
After weeks of rumors — as well as the sudden cancellation of their headlining fall tour — Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas issued a public statement confirming they had broken up as a band. They later made an appearance on ‘Good Morning America’ and spoke at length about their decision to pursue separate careers in the entertainment industry. At the time, they promised to release their final songs and they have made good on that promise.
The five songs are “Wedding Bells,” “What Do I Mean to You,” “Found,” “Neon,” and “The World.” They were originally released to members of their fan club, Team Jonas, as a digital download, along with an additional 10 live tracks. The new songs have now hit the Web and can heard via the YouTube videos below.
“Wedding Bells” in particular has drawn notice as it is rumored to be about Miley Cyrus whom Nick Jonas dated a few years ago. Lyrics leave plenty of room for speculation with such vague words as “No, I don’t wanna love if it’s not you / I don’t wanna hear the wedding bells prove / That we can’t try one last time…”
It’s just been a few years that the Jonas Brothers were in the heyday of their global reign as teen idols with signature hits such as “SOS” and “Burnin’ Up” and legions of fans anxious for every concert date, every new song, every new live stream chat. But time marches on, teens grow up and cease to be teens. From Disney Channel sitcom ‘JONAS’ and the Disney ‘Camp Rock’ movies to the E! reality TV show ‘Married to Jonas’ — in retrospect, these are the book ends of that global reign.
