Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are divorced two years after they first split. The divorce has now been officially finalized.
The 51-year-old veteran actress Demi Moore and the 35-year-old actor Ashton Kutcher were married in 2005. TMZ was first to report the divorce was finalized and the report has been confirmed by numerous media outlets that the divorce was finalized in Los Angeles Superior Court. Beyond that, TMZ speculates details of the settlement which are unknown as are the reasons as to why the divorce took so long. Kutcher filed in December 2012 citing irreconcilable differences and Demi Moore filed a response and requested spousal support. Reportedly money was the holdup.
Further speculation is that Kutcher will marry his longtime girlfriend 30-year-old Mila Kunis, whom he met on the set of ‘That ’70s Show.’ It is rumored that Kunis is pregnant, thus the reason for the sudden finalization.
Beyond the facts of a finalized divorce all else is speculation.
But this is nothing new as the couple even in their happiest days were always suspected to split at any moment. Much was made of the 15-year age difference; at the time of the wedding she was in her 40s and he was still in his 20s which seemed to evoke the usual negative stereotyping as it was assumed that Demi Moore, regardless of what a beauty she was and still is could not keep a man that young from straying. It was a raw exposure of society’s double standard; had the ages been reversed, there would have been no discussion, period.
Finally, there was a split, a cheating scandal, a younger girlfriend. Perhaps now the tabloids and all other parties interested in such a downfall were satisfied.
But in happier days Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher were frequently together on the red carpet and elsewhere. They were also Twitter pioneers, as Kutcher was the first person to have a million followers and they were among the first A-list Hollywood celebrities to make maximum use of the then-new social media platform. Demi Moore famously was known in those days as @MrsKutcher.
Demi Moore who rose to fame in iconic films including ‘Ghost’ opposite the late Patrick Swayze will be seen in the upcoming movie, ‘Very Good Girls.’ Ashton Kutcher, who recently portrayed Steve Jobs in ‘Jobs’ remains the star of Charlie Sheen’s former CBS sitcom ‘Two and a Half Men.’
