Jennifer Lawrence Talks ‘X-Men,’ Being a Nurse as a Fall-Back Plan and More (Video)

Jennifer Lawrence talked about ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ on ‘Live with Kelly and Michael’ along with other topics including her ambition to be a nurse if acting didn’t work out. She also played “Name that Jen” with the co-hosts.

The Oscar-winning 23-year-old actress spoke with co-hosts Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan about the movie and other topics. As is the case with the ever-candid Jennifer Lawrence, it’s the other topics that get the attention.

In reminiscing about her childhood she broached the topic of her previous life ambition. She said that she and her siblings worked at her parents’ children’s camp and that when she was 12 years old, she worked as an assistant nurse.

She went on to say, “I had a five-year plan when I came out here to act. I said I’ll give it five years and if that doesn’t work, I’ll go to nursing school.”

With an Oscar to boot and the starring role in ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise — not to mention the plumb role as Mystique in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ — it’s safe to say we won’t be seeing an “RN” after Jennifer Lawrence’s name!

But nonetheless, she went on to muse, saying, ” Yeah. I still sometimes wonder if I’ve made the right decision. In restaurants or airport, I’ll sometimes wonder, mull it over.

When Kelly Ripa asked her if some day she might portray a nurse and thus, in her mind be a nurse, she said, “It’s the same thing. Yeah, Josh Hutcherson and I in “The Hunger Games” we had a scene the hospital and all the singers and everything was real; syringes and everything was real. We started filling up with these fake water and the security guards couldn’t find a way in the room and we were like…with needles.”

Asked about her Oscar snacks she brought in her purse, she said, “I had Slim Jims, spicy and mild. And then candy and breath mints to counteract the Slim Jims.”

As for ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Jennifer Lawrence talked about what it was like to work with Hugh Jackman who portrays Wolverine. She also spoke about the logistics of putting on and wearing Mystique’s costume as well as the physical training of which she said, “I did yoga and other workouts and…there’s a lot of choreography. It’s a lot of training with my stunt double and learning what she’s doing.”

She is just one of many A-list stars in the movie which is likely on its way to become the first summer blockbuster.
