Yesterday, Barnes & Noble introduced Nook for Web, “an innovative and free new browser experience that offers readers the ability to explore the hottest digital titles and bestselling books right from their computer – no sign-in, software download or NOOK account required to begin reading” on their PC or Mac. With the Nook Cloud service, you’ll be able to use Nook for Web to read your Nook library wherever you are, and you’ll be able to pick up right where you left off when you pick up your Nook ebook reader later. In addition to your own library, you’ll be able to easily sample new books, get recommendations, and use social networking to leave your own review or learn what your friends are reading. Nook for Web is free, and for a limited time, Barnes & Noble is offering six books for free. You just read the sample online, then you can download the entire book through your browser for free, through July 26. Using Nook for Web, you’ll be able to browse the Nook store, purchase books, or open and read the contents of your own Nook library from any browser. This fall, Barnes & Noble will add “support for Internet-enabled tablets, smartphones and other mobile devices.” Go to Nook for Web to get started reading now.
