O-Town Debuts ‘Skydive,’ First New Song In 10 Years! (Audio)

O-Town has debuted a song, ‘Skydive,’ their first new single in 10 years. The boy band has reunited after a decade of silence and now has surprised the world with the sudden release of new music just weeks after the official announcement of their reformation.

The boy band was formed in the inaugural season of MTV’s Making the Band in 2000. After their self-titled debut album in 2000 they went on to release a sophomore album ‘O2′ which was out in 2002. As time has marched on, they are, in retrospect known best for their breakthrough hits ‘Liquid Dreams’ and ‘All or Nothing.’

But while we may have thought this was just another chapter closed chapter in reality television’s ongoing adventure creating music stars, suddenly, there was the official news that O-Town was reuniting with four members of its original lineup — Dan Miller, Erik-Michael Estrada, Jacob Underwood, and Trevor Penick. The fifth member Ashley Parker Angel, is not rejoining the band.

And now, solidifying that return to the music scene, a new song. And in fact, it is unfolding just as Billboard reported at the time O-Town announced they were reforming. Jacob Underwood was quoted as saying, “We started this reunion purely for the fun of it. We had discussed a summer tour to perform our old songs and finally give the fans what they’ve been asking us for the last 10 years. However, once we began working, what developed was something a little more ambitious. The ideas kept flying and we couldn’t help but start making new music.”

Now just a few weeks later we have ‘Skydive’ as well as a newly announced album, Lines & Circles, which is due out in August as well as a U.S. tour which will kick off in November.

Again underscoring how long it’s been, Twitter didn’t even exist when O-Town was last on the scene, but they have made their debut with this and other social media. In response to their new song, which has been well received by fans and critics they Tweeted their gratitude, saying, “Thank you for all your love on Skydive.”
