More than a musical collaboration, but instead a celebration that the song speaks of. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ ‘Same Love’ has become the anthem for the cause of same-sex marriage for months, even in advance of the Supreme Court rulings which struck down California’s Proposition 8 that had barred gay marriage, and struck down DOMA, the Defense of Marriage Act.

Yes, the Seattle-based hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are indeed phenomenal. They have become trailblazers in their own right getting 7 Grammy nominations for an album, ‘Heist,’ which they produced and independently released that has spawned a number of high singles including ‘Thrift Shop,’ ‘Can’t Hold Us’ as well as ‘Same Love’ which has received one of those Grammy nods.
Now the news arrives that Queen Latifah, yet another icon, will officiate the live on-air weddings of 34 couples; lesbian, gay as well as heterosexual and, as the publication reports, of various ages, races and ethnicities, further underscoring the theme of love is love, across all perceived boundaries.
